Employment

Executive Pastor

Do you have a passion for seeing people and communities transformed by the love of Jesus? Are processes, compliance and policies music to your ears? Are you looking for a way to engage both of those?

We have an opportunity for a called pastor to serve at South West Baptist Church as our next Executive Pastor. This role works closely with our Senior Pastor as part of our Leadership Team. This involves contributing to and implementing South West Baptist’s spiritual and strategic direction, vision and values.  Our leadership role model the vision of SWBC as a whole-of-life commitment and are, first of all, followers of Jesus and active disciplers of others.  

You will have robust biblical understanding of God’s missional bias to the poor and marginalised. Experience essential in handling complexity and leading through change toward shared missional action.

This role also leads our Structures Team, overseeing Finance, Facilities, IT and Human Resources. It’s a position that requires adaptability, needing to hold both details and the big picture, with people management skills in the mix. You’ll be dedicated to ensuring we’ve crossed our t’s and dotted our i’s with our compliance, policies, procedures, and budgeting, all while sharing the love of Jesus!

This role is for 30 hours a week, but this can be negotiated up to full time for our successful candidate. The full job description is available here.

Generations Pastor

We are seeking a Generations Pastor – a new role in the life of our church. This role will lead all children’s, youth, young adults and family areas of the church to proactively form faith across the younger generations including fostering intergenerational involvement.   

As part of our Leadership Team, you’ll be reporting to and supported by our Senior Pastor. This involves contributing to and implementing South West Baptist’s spiritual and strategic direction, vision and values.  Our leadership role model the vision of SWBC as a whole-of-life commitment and are, first of all, followers of Jesus and active disciplers of others.  

You will have robust biblical understanding of God’s missional bias to the poor and marginalised. You will be a leader of leaders, a communicator who enjoys working in and with mission-minded teams, handling complexity and leading through change toward shared missional action. Ideally you’ve had experience preaching too.   

This role will have high visibility and influence – your leadership will be both big picture and with a thorough knowledge and involvement on the ground. You’ll be equipping, supporting and empowering our 0-25s, their families and communities to grow in their relationship with God, with themselves, with each other and the world, weaving them into the life of our church journey.   

We have teams of people who are responsible for each of these areas, so you’ll be a strong team leader and manager, who can also identity and develop future leaders.

Communications Manager

Our Communications Manager ensures that calendar planning and communication across a variety of media at SWBC is done effectively and efficiently, serving our vision. This role manages our calendar and communications platforms (including website, Facebook, Instagram, app), will produce images and video projects (Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro), oversee our Reception and database team (Elvanto) and ensure any publication from the central church is to a high standard. Sunday Preschool Programme Coordinator - Fixed Term

Volunteering

Sunday Gatherings Volunteers

Would you like to be part of a team that welcomes people and ushers them to seats at our Sunday gatherings once a month? Or part of our communion set up team? If you’re keen, contact Warren.

We are currently looking for groups or individual volunteers to help with setting up and packing away the chairs in our Lyttelton St site Gym before and after our Sunday morning gathering. Get in touch with Matt if you can help.

If you’d like to be involved with our Sunday gatherings in any other way, get in touch with Sam. We’re especially looking for stage managers and computer operators at the moment! Full training provided. 

SYC Youth Leaders

Our SYC crew are always on the lookout for more volunteer youth leaders to journey alongside our rangatahi. To find our more about this contact Sandy.

Fancy footwork?

Our Foot Clinic caters for older folk who are in need of help with their toenails. They’re treated to a relaxing foot spa and a cuppa before having their toenails trimmed and a luxurious foot massage to finish with. There’s some great chat and friendships and often opportunities to encourage & pray for each other. We are looking for someone to help with filling and emptying the foot spas at our Cobham St Hall Foot Clinic. We meet every third Monday morning from 9.15am to about 12 noon. Van Drivers

Tuesday Christian Fellowship is looking for volunteer van drivers. This would involve a fortnightly or monthly commitment. If you would like to consider this, then please email Andy. Thank you!
